Fractional Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Fractional Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fractional Manager, you need extensive experience in business operations, leadership, and strategic planning, often supported by a relevant degree and a track record of success in management roles. Familiarity with project management tools (such as Asana or Trello), CRM systems, and financial analysis software is typically required. Strong communication, adaptability, and stakeholder management skills help you integrate quickly into diverse organizations and drive results. These skills are crucial because Fractional Managers must deliver rapid impact and value while working part-time or on a contract basis across multiple companies.

How do Fractional Managers typically integrate with existing teams and company culture?

Fractional Managers often join organizations on a part-time or project-specific basis, which means quickly acclimating to the company's established workflows and team dynamics is essential. They usually start by conducting meetings with key stakeholders to understand current challenges and priorities. Effective communication and adaptability are crucial, as Fractional Managers need to build trust and rapport with full-time staff while delivering results within a limited timeframe. Many organizations support this integration by providing clear onboarding processes and access to internal resources, ensuring the Fractional Manager can make a meaningful impact from the outset.

What are fractional managers?

Fractional managers are experienced professionals who provide part-time or temporary management support to organizations, often working with multiple clients at once. They typically fill leadership gaps, guide strategic initiatives, or oversee specific business functions without the company needing to hire a full-time manager. This arrangement allows businesses to access high-level expertise and leadership at a fraction of the cost and commitment of a permanent hire. Fractional managers are commonly used by startups, small businesses, or companies undergoing transition or rapid growth.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A fractional manager can earn $10,000 or more per month by providing part-time leadership and strategic guidance to businesses across various industries. Success in this role depends on experience, expertise, and the ability to deliver value remotely or on a flexible schedule, often without requiring a formal degree. High-level consulting, executive coaching, or specialized freelance management roles can also reach this income level based on client contracts and reputation.

What is the difference between Fractional Manager vs Part-Time Manager?

Job description

Fractional Sales & Marketing Manager
CB Construction NW
Part-time | Contract Engagement
Remote-friendly with occasional Seattle presenceAbout This Role

CB Construction is a North Seattle design-build remodeler. For nearly two decades, we've been the contractor homeowners in Ballard, Ravenna, Greenwood, Wallingford, and surrounding neighborhoods turn to for whole-home remodels, additions, kitchens, baths, and basement ADUs.

More than half of our clients are repeat customers. Most of the rest come through referrals. That's a strong foundation-and it's also the reason we're hiring.

We want to grow deliberately. Not by chasing every lead, but by reaching more of the right homeowners and the right projects. To do that, we need someone who can own sales and marketing as a discipline, not a side task.

Engagement Structure (Read This First)

This is a fractional engagement.

  • Part-time
  • Ongoing
  • Contract-based
  • Scoped around outcomes, not hours

It is Part time W-2 role, and it is not a one-off project.

Position Overview

You will report directly to the founding principal, Carl, and operate as our outsourced sales and marketing leader.

Your responsibility is to own outcomes-not just activity.

We've already invested in marketing coordination and lead generation support. Your role is to bring direction, structure, and accountability to those efforts, ensuring they produce real opportunities and revenue.

You will lead and direct the Marketing Coordinator / Lead Gen VA, aligning day-to-day execution with a clear strategy and measurable results.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 3-6 months:

  • A clear, actively managed pipeline of qualified remodeling opportunities
  • Lead generation is consistent, measurable, and improving
  • The Marketing Coordinator / VA is focused, accountable, and producing
  • Referral channels (architects, designers, past clients) are actively generating work
  • Messaging reflects the quality of the work and attracts the right homeowners
  • A defined, repeatable sales process exists from inquiry to signed contract

Longer term:

  • Sales becomes predictable and intentional, not referral-dependent
  • Marketing efforts are focused and tied to revenue, not just activity
  • The company consistently attracts the right projects-not just more projects
  • The system runs with structure and accountability, not constant owner involvement
What You'd Own

You'd operate across five core areas:

Sales Pipeline Development

  • Build and manage a clear, trackable pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Define what a "good project" looks like and filter accordingly
  • Implement simple systems for tracking leads, follow-ups, and conversion

Lead Generation Strategy & Oversight

  • Set the strategy for inbound and outbound lead generation
  • Direct the Marketing Coordinator on daily and weekly priorities
  • Ensure consistent execution and measurable output

Marketing Execution (Through Others)

  • Oversee website, content, and digital presence
  • Guide messaging and campaigns to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Review and refine output rather than doing everything yourself

Brand Positioning

  • Sharpen how CB Construction NW is perceived in the market
  • Align messaging with the type of projects and clients we want more of
  • Ensure consistency across all outward-facing touchpoints

Sales Process & Support

  • Improve how leads are qualified, nurtured, and closed
  • Support proposal strategy, pricing positioning, and client communication
  • Bring structure to what is currently informal
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of proven experience in sales and marketing within construction, trades, or B2B services
  • Experience leading or directing junior marketing/lead gen support
  • Someone who has built pipelines, not just talked about them
  • Strong understanding of relationship-driven selling
  • Ability to operate at both strategy and execution level
  • Comfortable working directly with an owner and a small, growing team
  • Clear communicator who creates focus and accountability

This is not for someone who needs a large team or heavy infrastructure. We're looking for someone who can step in, lead, and create traction quickly.

Why CB Construction NW
  • Established reputation in a strong Seattle market
  • High-quality work and a portfolio that converts
  • Existing marketing support you can lead immediately
  • Direct access to ownership (no layers, no politics)
  • Budget aligned with doing this the right way
  • A real opportunity to build a system that drives growth
To Apply

Send a short note with:

  • A brief overview of your background and current fractional setup
  • One or two examples of comparable work (construction, trades, or home services preferred)
  • Your typical engagement structure (hours, retainer, scope)
