What is part time fractional leadership?

Part time fractional leadership refers to hiring an experienced executive or manager to fulfill a leadership role within an organization on a part-time, contract, or interim basis. These leaders typically work with multiple companies, providing expertise and strategic guidance without the need for a full-time hire. This approach allows small or growing businesses to access high-level leadership and specialized skills at a fraction of the cost of a full-time executive. Fractional leaders can help with everything from setting strategy to managing teams and processes, adapting their involvement based on the company's needs.

How do part time fractional leaders typically integrate with existing teams to drive results?

Part-time fractional leaders often work with multiple organizations, so they must quickly build rapport and trust with existing teams. They usually begin by assessing team strengths, establishing clear communication channels, and setting measurable goals in alignment with company priorities. Success in this role depends on their ability to collaborate closely with full-time staff, delegate effectively, and provide strategic guidance during limited working hours. Regular check-ins and transparent updates help ensure that their contributions remain impactful, even with a part-time presence.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time fractional leader?

To thrive as a Part Time Fractional Leader, you need extensive leadership experience, a proven track record in your field, and the ability to deliver strategic guidance across multiple organizations. Familiarity with common business management tools, project management software, and potentially relevant certifications like PMP or industry-specific credentials is often required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and the ability to quickly build trust make someone stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for driving impactful results in a limited timeframe and across diverse organizational cultures.

Job description

About DAAXIT
Founded in 2021, DAAXIT was built on more than 20 years of financial leadership experience in the construction industry. We saw firsthand that many construction and skilled trades businesses operate without the strategic financial guidance needed to grow sustainably and profitably.
DAAXIT exists to change that.

We provide fractional CFO services that bring financial clarity, improved profitability, and long term stability to construction businesses. Our mission is to empower business owners with the tools and insight they need to achieve financial confidence and freedom.
We are guided by our core values of accountability, education, transformation, profitability, and transparency. Teamwork, ownership, and client impact drive everything we do.

About the Role
As a Fractional Chief Financial Officer, you will serve as the strategic financial leader for multiple DAAXIT clients in the construction and skilled trades industries. This is not just a numbers role. You will act as a trusted advisor and coach, helping business owners understand their financials, make data driven decisions, and build stronger, more profitable companies.

This is a part time, fractional leadership role. Client assignments are structured to provide flexibility while maintaining high impact. Most clients require an average of 8 to 10 hours per month, with the opportunity to work with multiple clients depending on your desired workload.
This position is remote. Candidates must reside in Wisconsin, preferably in the southern half of the state to support clients in the Milwaukee and Madison areas. Occasional travel to client sites may be required, particularly at the start of a new client relationship.

Why This Role Is Different
This role is ideal for experienced financial leaders in the construction industry who want to stay engaged in meaningful, strategic work without the demands of a traditional full time executive position.

Many of our CFOs are seasoned professionals who value flexibility, purpose, and the opportunity to make a real impact with business owners.

You will have:
• A highly flexible schedule
• A manageable client load
• The ability to focus on advisory and strategy rather than internal corporate structures
• The chance to directly influence the success of growing construction businesses

What You Will Do
Client Financial Leadership
• Serve as the acting CFO for multiple construction and skilled trades clients
• Lead monthly and quarterly financial review meetings with business owners
• Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights
• Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts
• Guide clients through strategic planning and goal setting
• Perform and analyze work in progress calculations and construction specific financial metrics
• Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators
Advisory and Coaching
• Coach business owners and leadership teams on financial literacy and decision making
• Help owners understand job costing, cash flow, and profitability drivers
• Support clients in improving profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency
• Build financial confidence and accountability within client leadership teams
Relationship Management
• Integrate into client teams as a trusted, service oriented partner
• Maintain strong, professional relationships with all assigned clients
• Ensure communication expectations are met consistently
• Provide regular internal updates to DAAXIT leadership on client progress and needs
General Responsibilities
• Uphold DAAXIT’s mission, values, and code of conduct
• Protect the confidentiality of client and company information
• Manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Escalate issues proactively when support is needed
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development
• Support process improvement and documentation efforts
• Take on additional projects as assigned

Qualifications
Required Industry Experience
Construction industry experience is required.
We are specifically seeking candidates with leadership level financial experience supporting:
• General contractors
• Subcontractors or specialty trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, concrete, painting, or similar fields

Experience limited to manufacturing, logistics, software, transportation, or private equity environments without direct construction financial exposure will not be considered.

Required Skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
• Strong experience with QuickBooks and construction related ERP systems such as Sage, Timberline, Spectrum, Trimble, Acumatica, or Viewpoint
• Expert level experience with WIP calculations and construction job costing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and practical way
• Strong customer service mindset and relationship management skills
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 8 to 10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• 3 to 5 years in a senior financial leadership role such as Controller or CFO within the construction industry

Who Thrives in This Role
You will likely enjoy this role if you:
• Have deep construction financial experience and enjoy mentoring business owners
• Prefer flexible, autonomous work over traditional corporate structures
• Like building relationships and becoming a trusted advisor
• Want your work to have a visible, meaningful impact on small to mid sized businesses

Work Environment and Travel
• Primarily remote work
• Occasional travel to client sites, especially during initial client onboarding
• Prolonged computer use and sitting
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for occasional travel

Ready to Make an Impact?
This role is perfect for an experienced construction CFO or finance leader who wants meaningful, strategic work with the flexibility to design a schedule that fits your life.
If you enjoy partnering with business owners, solving real world financial challenges, and seeing the direct impact of your guidance, we invite you to apply and explore how you can grow with us.
