POSITION SUMMARY
The WIC Clerk is responsible for the maintenance of WIC records in IWIC system, clinic flow charts and the security of the EBT cards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
  • Offers excellent customer service by practicing patience, kindness and empathy. Cultivating a welcoming environment for clients, while having respect for one's fellow employees.
  • Performs all necessary duties related to the certification/re-certification process.
  • Perform simple sorting, checking and logging function.
  • Assists with maintaining efficient clinic flow, routes clients in order of appointment/arrival time, and alerts Clinic Supervisor of problems with clinic flow
  • Makes appropriate and timely appointments for WIC applicants and participants, either in person or over the phone, according to certification category, time frames for processing applicants, and client request
  • Provides applicant with a list of documentation needed for certification either over the phone or in writing
  • Documents ineligibility for clients who exceed income guidelines and obtains all required forms, signatures and dates
  • Asks applicants to read appropriate forms (including if applicant is determined ineligible based on exceeding income guidelines) prior to signing and dating. Reads and clarifies information for applicants if they are unable to do so.
  • Offers all program applicants and parents/guardians the opportunity to register to vote
  • Notify clients of termination at least 15 days in advance and appropriately document notification.
  • Contact WIC participants who have failed to pick up their EBT cards.
  • Informs clients on the approved foods, WIC vendors and the use of food benefits.
  • Coordinate with Nutritionist to update bulletin boards
  • Attend at least 1 breastfeeding training per year
  • Travels to other WIC sites as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED completed.
  • Minimum of one year of related work experience preferred.
