The Opportunity:
As the Fiscal Technician 1, you will provide essential fiscal and administrative support to the Administrative and Financial Services (AFS) team within Information Technology Services (ITS). In this role, you will perform a variety of transactional financial activities, including data entry, account reconciliations, purchasing support, and maintenance of financial records. You will work closely with team members to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions while supporting the financial operations of the department.
Under close supervision, you will apply established fiscal methods, rules, and procedures to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Washington State University policies and regulations. Your attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and ability to follow established processes will contribute to the efficient management of fiscal activities and help support the ongoing operational and strategic objectives of ITS.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,195 to $4,201 (Steps A-M) | Range 34 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or equivalent; typing experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated accuracy in data entry or financial recordkeeping.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience or coursework in a higher education, governmental, or public sector fiscal environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise financial systems (e.g., Workday or similar ERP).
  • Experience processing purchase requests, invoices, or accounts payable transactions.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Completion of college-level coursework in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field (15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours may substitute for six months of experience).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field.
