Job Description
The Fiscal Technician may assist with and perform a variety of day-to-day administrative activities of the Center for the Arts, including financial and HR reconciliations, departmental purchasing and reimbursement activity, wage staff recruitment and hiring processes, payroll coordination and administration, other personnel processes, asset management and tracking, rental settlements, grant and sponsored project management, billing, and a breadth of administrative recordkeeping.
This position is a key member of a small administrative team that serves as a resource for policies, procedures, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for the Center's various units, including but not limited to those responsible for live performances, visual arts exhibitions, and student engagement activities. The Fiscal Technician is expected to be a collaborative team player, process assigned work efficiently and accurately, attend to details, independently monitor workflow, and offer friendly and helpful assistance to colleagues.
Required Qualifications
Experience managing financial and/or human resources records and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive data.| Experience providing administrative support in a professional office environment.| Strong office computer skills including proficiency with Excel.| Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.| Positive attitude, adaptability, and well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, guests, and individuals from other departments.|
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing reconciliation work in a deadline-driven environment,| Experience researching complex issues and recommending solutions to problems. | Working knowledge of state and university purchasing, travel, HR, and payroll policies and procedures.| Proficiency with VT University systems such as HokieMart, Emburse, and Banner Finance, HR, and timekeeping systems.| Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
