Description:
Position Summary
The Facilities & Operations Assistant is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of motorized vehicles and mechanical equipment. This role supports day-to-day operations by ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe, functional, and well maintained. Work is performed with moderate independence and reviewed for quality, safety, and technical accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Inspect, maintain, and repair automobiles, trucks, tractors, snowplows, hydraulic equipment, road maintenance machinery, and related mechanical equipment.
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements to ensure operational readiness.
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Make emergency repairs both in the shop and in the field as required.

Mechanical Systems & Components
โ€ข Inspect, adjust, repair, rebuild, and replace mechanical systems, including:
ย ย  oย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Transmissions and main bearing assemblies
ย ย  oย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Steering systems and front/rear axles
ย ย  oย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Differentials and braking systems
ย ย  oย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Magnetos, carburetors, starters, generators, distributors, and alternator systems
โ€ข Perform engine related tasks such as valve refacing and reseating, cylinder honing, motor timing, and front-end alignment
ย 
Automotive & Electrical Work
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform automotive body, radiator, electrical, and battery work that does not require a specialized technician.
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Test and repair electrical components, including field coils and armatures, for shorts, grounds, and open circuits.
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Paint vehicle bodies and reline brakes as needed.

Fabrication & Shop Support
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform basic metalworking using equipment such as lathes, drills, and hacksaws.
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Complete simple welding tasks.
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Repair tools, shop equipment, and garage machinery as needed.

Operations & Emergency Response
โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Operate trucks, snowplows, or other equipment during emergency situations.

โ€ขย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Stay current on the construction, operation, and maintenance requirements of newly developed vehicle and equipment models.

Work Environment & Supervision
