Job description

Position Title: Facilities Specialist- Entry Level
Location: Redstone Arsenal
Position Type: Full-Time
Clearance Requirement: Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance Required to Start
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Specialist to support facility operations and maintenance activities at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This role supports daily operations and maintenance (O&M) functions across secure government facilities and works closely with facility managers, project managers, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure facilities remain operational, compliant, and mission ready.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced government environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Attend meetings related to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Program and provide facility status updates to stakeholders with guidance from senior facility operations personnel
  • Coordinate, oversee, and support repair and maintenance activities performed by technicians, vendors, contractors, janitorial staff, and landscaping teams
  • Ensure maintenance and repair activities comply with established O&M policies and procedures
  • Submit, track, and manage facility work orders to ensure timely completion and compliance with established performance metrics
  • Utilize facility integration tools and systems to process service requests and monitor open service tickets
  • Collect and compile monthly work order metrics and support executive reporting requirements
  • Conduct facility inspections, preventive maintenance quality assurance checks, and document findings or deficiencies
  • Report facility anomalies, operational concerns, or maintenance issues to supervisory personnel
  • Support project walkthroughs with Project Managers to identify operational impacts, equipment access concerns, and maintenance considerations
  • Maintain accountability of Real Property records and support annual utility and cost reporting requirements
  • Coordinate office moves, additions, and space management activities while supporting seating and workspace planning efforts
  • Obtain vendor proposals for parts, labor, and service requirements and assist with invoice validation and payment tracking
  • Barcode and inventory new equipment while entering asset information into facility management systems for preventive maintenance tracking
  • Provide input to annual budget planning and operational forecasting activities for assigned facilities

Required Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance required prior to start date
  • Associate degree in a technical, engineering, architectural, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related facilities, operations, maintenance, or property management experience preferred, or three (3) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and internet/intranet applications
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, vendors, contractors, and government stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret procedures, policies, and operational requirements with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with service ticket systems, maintenance tracking systems, or facility integration tools preferred

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government facilities
  • Familiarity with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) programs and preventive maintenance processes
  • Knowledge of facility management systems, work order tracking, and space management processes
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and facility support services
  • Understanding of real property accountability and utility management processes
