Job description

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support enterprise observability, cloud modernization, and security compliance initiatives supporting critical federal operations. This position is responsible for supporting security assessments, compliance activities, application onboarding, vulnerability remediation, access management, and cloud migration efforts across enterprise environments. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with application teams, infrastructure engineers, and government stakeholders to ensure systems meet security requirements and operational standards. This position will be fully remote within the United States.
Responsibilities
The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer supports security compliance, risk management, and operational security activities across enterprise systems and applications. This role works closely with technical teams to ensure security requirements are incorporated into application onboarding, cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and operational support activities while maintaining compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and policies.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance activities for enterprise applications, infrastructure platforms, and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and remediation tracking activities.
  • Support application onboarding by validating security requirements, access controls, logging configurations, and compliance documentation.
  • Review and validate user access, permissions, and account management activities in accordance with security policies.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and operations teams to address cybersecurity requirements and operational risks.
  • Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives by ensuring security controls and compliance requirements are incorporated into deployment and operational processes.
  • Validate logging, monitoring, and audit capabilities for systems integrated with enterprise observability platforms.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation, procedures, compliance artifacts, and operational guidance.
  • Support security reporting, metrics collection, risk management, and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders and technical teams to support compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements and organizational policies.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of experience (0r commensurate experience)
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance, vulnerability management, or security operations activities.
  • Experience conducting security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and remediation tracking.
  • Knowledge of access management, authentication, authorization, and security control implementation.
  • Experience supporting cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Understanding of federal cybersecurity requirements, security frameworks, and compliance processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining security documentation, reports, and compliance artifacts.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting federal government cybersecurity programs.
  • Experience supporting cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and security assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and security controls.
  • Experience supporting enterprise logging, monitoring, observability, or SIEM platforms such as Splunk.
  • Security+, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or similar cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO), risk management, or compliance initiatives.

Posted Salary Range
USD $120,000.00 - USD $135,000.00 /Yr.
