Job description

Performance Driven Workforce (PDW) is now hiring Full-Time Assemblers / Entry-Level Mechanics for an Automotive Tier 1 Supplier in Livonia, MI. Full-Time Assemblers / Entry-Level Mechanics will work in a prototype environment modifying cars and trucks, including cutting-edge projects involving self-driving/autonomous semi-trucks. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the latest automotive technologies. This position offers an AM day shift and PM night shift with overtime available as needed. This is hands-on prototype build work — not repetitive production line assembly.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical assembly on prototype vehicles
  • Remove and modify full vehicle interiors (seating, panels, dashboards, sleeper cab components, etc.)
  • Install wire harnesses, sensors, and advanced electronic control units
  • Assist in building self-driving semi-trucks, including interior and exterior system integration
  • Perform basic diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance as needed
  • Follow written procedures and ensure high-quality workmanship
Shift Schedule:
  • AM Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
  • PM Night Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (Monday – Friday)
  • Overtime available as needed (including weekends)

Requirements:
  • Hands-on automotive mechanic, maintenance, lube technician, or related experience working with automotive systems
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and performing mechanical tasks in an automotive environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with automotive mechanical and electrical assembly, including wire harness installation
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-starter who is motivated and willing to learn
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must have a basic set of tools
  • Dependable and reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed

Preferred, but not required:
  • Previous automotive mechanic or co-op experience
  • Experience with automotive electrical systems
