Engineering Manager

Wenzel Industries | Jefferson, Wisconsin | Full-Time

Position Summary

Wenzel Industries is seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our engineering function and support the continued growth of our precision machining operations in Jefferson, Wisconsin. This leadership role oversees engineering strategy, process development, manufacturing support, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects while partnering across the organization to drive productivity, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering team while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring objectives are achieved safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Partner with Operations, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to improve efficiency, throughput, quality, and profitability.
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, equipment, workflows, and production processes to optimize performance.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review customer requirements and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Oversee engineering documentation, design reviews, technical standards, and product changes.
  • Provide technical leadership and problem-solving support for complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Develop project budgets, capital expenditure requests, and implementation plans.
  • Support customer visits, audits, technical reviews, and new business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering leadership or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, precision manufacturing, tooling, fixtures, and production systems.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects, budgets, and capital investments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Precision machining or metal manufacturing experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma expertise.
  • CNC programming, automation, ERP/MRP systems, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and GD&T knowledge.
