Job description

Superior Essex, a global leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of wire and cable products, seeks anOutside Sales Representativewho would enjoy working within a dynamic sales group in our distribution division -- Essex Brownell. This Outside Sales Representative will cover our Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Motor Repair territory.

Essex Brownell is a division of Superior Essex. We are a leading international distributor of magnet wire, insulation, varnish, tapes, motors, and related products used in the manufacture and repair of electrical transformers, motors, pumps, and equipment. Essex Brownell's product breadth, quality brands, value-based services, customer-focused team, extensive network of branch locations, and partnerships with leading suppliers make Essex Brownell the supplier of choice for all your electrical and motor repair needs.

Preferred Location: We prefer candidates who live near a major airport and are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Indiana.

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Manage a significant customer base in established sales territory that includes parts of Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast territory
  • Strategic account management includes cultivating relationships in multifaceted vertical organizations and devising tailored growth plans.
  • Business Development. New business prospecting. Assess and develop future market and account opportunities.
  • Execute sales plans outlined by the Division, Sales, and Marketing Teams.
  • Resolve complex issues within the sales territory.
  • Effectively market and promote Essex magnet wire and extensive complementary product lines, including electrical motors and motor repair parts.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to serve customers and prospects.
  • Joint selling with key suppliers to bring value-based solutions.
  • Well-planned sales visits with customers and prospects with prepared agendas and actionable follow-up items.
  • Working knowledge of the industrial distribution business model
  • Technical knowledge regarding electrical products and their applications

REQUIRED knowledge/skills/abilities and other minimum qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related work in industrial sales
  • BS or BA in Business Administration, Sales, or related field OR equivalent experience
  • 50% Overnight Travel
  • Experience selling electrical motors, electrical motor repair parts, magnet wire, electrical insulation, or complementary products preferred.
  • Technical knowledge regarding electrical products and their applications.
  • Knowledge of the Transformer market would be a plus.
