What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EHS Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EHS Engineer, you need a solid understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations, risk assessment, and compliance, often supported by a degree in engineering or environmental science. Familiarity with safety management systems (such as ISO 14001 or OSHA standards), auditing tools, and incident reporting software is typically required, and certifications like CSP or CIH are valuable. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help EHS Engineers proactively address hazards and influence organizational safety culture.
