Job description

ABOUT US

At Okland, we exist to create remarkable experiences — not just through the projects we deliver, but in the way we show up for our clients, partners, and each other every day. We believe that how we build is just as important as what we build, and our purpose is rooted in people. Whether it's a trusted partner we’ve worked with for decades or a new team member stepping onto their first jobsite, we approach every relationship with care, clarity, and commitment.

We’re a commercial general contractor and construction management company with more than 1,200 team members and a track record of delivering some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the country — from semiconductor and healthcare facilities to professional sports venues and high-end hospitality.

Founded in 1918 in Salt Lake City, we’ve grown steadily for over a century — now with offices in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho — and we’re entering one of the most exciting chapters in our company’s history. We’re building more than projects. We’re building careers, capabilities, and momentum for the future. And we’re looking for passionate, driven people who want to be part of it.

POSITION SUMMARY

At Okland, we believe quality is more than a checklist—it’s a mindset. We’re looking for a Senior Quality Control & Assurance Manager to lead our QA/QC efforts across all phases of construction, in addition to exterior systems like envelopes, waterproofing, roofing, and subgrade barriers.

You’ll work closely with project teams, consultants, and trade partners to review design documents, manage inspections, and ensure work meets our high standards. Your expertise will also support investigations, testing, and continuous improvement across projects.

If you have hands-on experience with these systems and a passion for building better, we’d love to connect.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Lead and continuously improve Okland’s QA/QC program, including processes, reporting, metrics, and field inspections.
  • Manage and mentor project teams and trade partners to ensure consistent execution of quality standards.
  • Integrate safety and LEAN principles into all quality planning and construction activities.
  • Support preconstruction and design phases by identifying quality risks, constructability challenges, and optimal means and methods.
  • Provide technical oversight throughout construction, ensuring installations align with design intent and manufacturer requirements.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of QA/QC tools, including checklists, feature-of-work (FOW) boards, and supporting resources.
  • Review submittals and RFIs, and lead resolution of field quality issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics (e.g., rework cost, time, and compliance response).
  • Manage building enclosure scope across projects, including performance evaluation, inspections, repairs, and design-assist support.
  • Lead client communication related to quality, including progress updates, technical findings, and project close-out.

YOUR’RE READY FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE

  • BS in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering/Construction Management or related field from an ABET-accredited university (Professional License in Engineering/Architecture or recognized industry credentials such as RRO, RRC, RWC, etc., are a plus).
  • 7+ years’ experience in building enclosure installation/consulting with sound knowledge of building materials, field investigation methods, and scientific principles as they relate to building enclosure performance.
  • Quality Assurance certifications or credentials, such as USACE, NAVFAC, CQE, or CQT Construction Quality Management preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of construction methods, means, and materials.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • 2+ years directly supervising employees and/or consultants.
  • Strong technical knowledge in building systems with special expertise in building envelope systems.
  • Field installation background, specifically with moisture and air barriers, building skin, envelope, waterproofing, sealants, penetrations, and openings, preferred.
  • Computer skills including software that supports QA/QC efforts such as Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Revit, and Outlook.
  • Detailed knowledge of building codes (ICC certification preferred).
  • Detailed knowledge of building and infrastructure construction management procedures, contract management, inspection practices and procedures.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in writing and editing project specifications and technical reports.
  • Strong team player with mentorship background.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Travel up to 10% with ability to work in the field and to travel outside local area as workload and projects require.
