Your new role

Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, the Document Control Lead is responsible for the governance, quality, and integrity of all technical and administrative documentation related to the construction project. The incumbent supervises a team of two document control technicians, plans and coordinates departmental activities, and ensures compliance with document standards, approval processes, and schedules.

The role involves close collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction teams, the EPCM firm, and external suppliers to ensure rigorous management of the document lifecycle.

Your key responsibilities:

1.Leadership & Team Management

Supervise, coach, and evaluate two document control technicians.

Plan workloads, set priorities, and ensure effective task allocation.

Provide ongoing training to the team on document standards, procedures, and tools.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies within the team.

2.Document Governance & Process Management

Develop, maintain, and improve project document control procedures, standards, and controls.

Ensure document compliance throughout all approval stages.

Monitor production timelines, identify delays, and implement corrective measures.

Ensure the quality, integrity, confidentiality, and traceability of documentation.

3.Document Control Operations & Coordination

Act as the central point of contact for document control across the entire project.

Ensure the receipt, classification, verification, and distribution of technical and vendor documents.

Maintain and update databases within the Aconex document management system.

Manage access control lists for classified documents.

Prepare and transfer document files in accordance with established procedures.

Produce regular statistics, reports, and document control performance indicators.

4.Stakeholder Relations

Collaborate proactively with internal teams (engineering, construction, procurement, HSE, etc.).

Manage documentrelated communications with suppliers and external partners.

Respond to information requests, follow up on issues, and propose solutions.

Participate in project meetings as required and represent the document control function.


What you'll need to succeed

Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in document management, library techniques, archives, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in document control, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or coordination role.

Bilingualism is required.

Excellent understanding of document management environments, information flows, and document governance principles.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.

Experience with Aconex and SharePoint.

Knowledge of engineering or industrial project environments (an asset).

Experience in the mining sector (an asset).
