Director of Business Development 

Position Overview

Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, 757swim, a member-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is seeking a motivated, organized, and community-driven Director of Business Development to drive growth, forge strategic partnerships, and expand the organization's footprint. The Director of Business Development reports to the Executive Director and plays a key leadership role in growing the competitive and community swimming programs and managing member relationships. This position collaborates with staff across all programs to maximize facility utilization and revenue.

Salary range is anticipated at $40,000 - $50,000. Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plan and performance bonus potential. 

This high-profile position involves exciting opportunities to drive growth and change in youth swimming at all levels. We are a USA Swimming sanctioned organization.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field.
  • At least 5 years' sales or marketing experience.
  • While our programs are focused on youth swimming, experience in competitive swimming is not required, but a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Growth 
    • Collaborates with Director of Competitive Swimming to identify opportunities for membership growth by attracting new members, tracking prospective members, and retaining current members.
    • Identifies additional revenue opportunities through retail, apparel, events, and community partnerships.
    • Develops and implement strategies to increase overall revenue.
    • Tracks membership and program growth data and report to the Executive Director monthly. 
    • Provides input to annual budget formulation process, with specific emphaisis regarding revenue projections. 
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship
      • Assists the Executive Director in maintaining a single donor/sponsor database, donor/sponsor recognition, and donor/sponsor follow-up.
      • Assists the organization with planning and execution of fundraising events.
  • Member Relations
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for all member relations and new members, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
    • Manages incoming communications (email, phone, text, and social media inquiries).
    • Organizes competitive swimming try-out sessions, tracks leads, and follow sup to convert prospects into members. 
    • Collaborates with staff to identify timing and process for swim lesson move-up's/try-outs.
    • Plans and executes member events that strengthen community and engagement.
  • Marketing, Communications and Community Engagement
    • Collaborates with the Executive Director to develop and execute marketing strategies. 
    • Clearly communicates and promotes the full range of 757swim programs to the community. 
    • Represents 757swim in the local community to build brand awareness and positive relationships. 
    • Coordinates promotional campaigns for programs and events. 
    • Assists with social media by capturing photos/videos, creating content, and posting regularly. 
    • Collaborates with web-site consultant to ensure content, design, etc. and information is current and relevant.
