B2B Business Development Manager - West Coast
Department: Operations
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Los Angeles
Reporting To: US Sourcing Lead
Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 / year
Description
At Upway, we're on a mission to make electric mobility accessible to everyone. As the leading platform for certified, pre-owned e-bikes, we're redefining how the world moves-sustainably, affordably, and intelligently.
Operating across 8 countries, including France, Germany, and the US, and backed by $65M+ from top-tier investors like Sequoia, Exor Seed, and Korelya Capital, we're growing fast-and looking for people who are ready to move fast with us.
We're a global company with local teams in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, and Dรผsseldorf, united by a shared belief: electric mobility should be the norm, not the exception.
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our US Operations team in Los Angeles and lead the expansion of our partner network. This is a high-ownership role for a true seller-someone who thrives in outbound sales, builds strong relationships, and delivers results in a high-velocity environment.
You'll be responsible for owning the entire sales cycle-from cold outreach to deal closing-and for sourcing the best second-hand e-bikes in your territory through retail and brand partnerships.
What you will do
  • Own the full partner lifecycle: from cold outreach to onboarding, relationship management, and performance tracking
  • Drive outbound sales: perform high-volume prospecting via email, phone, and in-person visits-especially in the first 1-2 months
  • Build and grow our partner network in your region, including independent bike shops, large retailers, and OEMs
  • Source and negotiate the best possible inventory of second-hand electric bikes
  • Travel extensively to meet with partners, understand their needs, and build long-term relationships
  • Act as the face of Upway in the market-representing our brand with professionalism, integrity, and passion
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and product teams to ensure a seamless customer and partner experience
  • Deliver against ambitious targets while maintaining a high standard of execution and attention to detail

What you will need
  • 3+ years of experience in business development, B2B sales, sourcing, or partner management, ideally in a fast-paced or startup environment
  • Proven track record of owning a sales pipeline and closing deals
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills-you know how to build trust and influence decisions
  • High energy and self-motivation-you're comfortable working independently, managing your time, and pushing through ambiguity
  • Experience with in-person client interactions and field sales
  • Strong organizational skills and bias for action
  • Passion for sustainability, mobility, and making an impact
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%) and be based full-time in Redondo Beach, CA

Benefits
  • Be part of a mission-driven company shaping the future of mobility
  • Work alongside passionate, high-performing teammates in the US and Europe
  • Own your region and make a real impact on growth from Day 1
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities
  • Work in a fast-moving environment where your input is valued and your results are visible
