MITAGS is seeking a Maritime Business Development Manager to drive business growth, strengthen customer relationships, and expand our presence throughout the commercial maritime industry. This is a consultative sales and account management role where you'll partner with vessel operators, engineering firms, pilot associations, government agencies, and maritime organizations to develop innovative training solutions that improve safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

As our Maritime Business Development Manager, you'll serve as both a strategic partner and trusted advisor to customers while driving sustainable business growth.

Business Development & Strategic Sales

•Develop new business opportunities throughout the maritime industry.

•Identify, qualify, and pursue strategic partnerships with vessel operators, engineering firms, pilot associations, and commercial maritime organizations.

•Conduct customer visits, facility tours, presentations, networking events, conferences, and industry outreach.

•Represent MITAGS at national and regional trade shows, seminars, and maritime conferences.

Account Management & Customer Success

•Build lasting relationships with existing customers by understanding their operational goals and training needs.

•Provide consultative recommendations and customized training solutions.

•Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements.

•Resolve customer concerns while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.

•Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships through additional programs and services.

Solution Development

•Collaborate with Academic and Simulation teams to develop customized training programs.

•Recommend new courses, specialized curriculum, and innovative learning solutions.

•Help customers navigate evolving maritime regulations and workforce development challenges.

Strategic Planning

•Maintain accurate pipeline management and sales forecasting through CRM.

•Analyze sales performance, customer trends, and business opportunities.

•Contribute to departmental budgeting, marketing initiatives, business development strategies, and annual growth objectives.

•Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives that support organizational success.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

•Experience in the maritime industry as a licensed officer or shoreside manager.

•Proven success in business development, consultative sales, strategic account management, or customer relationship management.

•Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

•Experience negotiating contracts and service agreements.

•Strong business acumen with the ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making.

•Experience developing, managing, and monitoring budgets.

•Demonstrated success achieving sales or business development goals.

•Strong organizational and project management skills.

•Ability to travel to customer locations, conferences, trade shows, and industry events.

•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

•Experience with CRM platforms and Microsoft Teams or the ability to learn quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Knowledge of STCW, CFR, Coast Guard regulations, and maritime training requirements.

•Experience with maritime simulation technology.

•Experience supporting marketing initiatives and cross-selling professional services.

•Teaching experience or the ability to complete Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certification.
