Overview
The Business Development (BD) Director position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group's quickly growing Raleigh-Durham area team out of our office in Apex, NC. Together we are sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group's ongoing expansion in the US. Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and Cell & Gene Therapy facilities- from feasibility through to qualification - for both local and international clients. With our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe.
As a senior leadership position within PM Group, we are looking for a BD Director who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the work we deliver to our clients. As a member of the PM Group leadership team in the US the BD Director will have a strong track record of developing business with Life Science clients in the Raleigh-Durham area. Additionally, this individual is responsible for driving the direction and performance of business development within the office, writing and preparing proposal execution plans and inspires the confidence to deliver a steadily growing stream of business from our selected clients. The ability to motivate and mentor others in a dynamic-growing office environment is also imperative.

Responsibilities
  • Build relationships with new and existing Clients; secure MSA's
  • Prospect, identify and secure business and RFPs with new and existing clients in the region
  • Lead the prioritization of prospects in consultation with operations and sector leaders
  • When required prepare all aspects of proposals
  • Work with the Business Unit team to deliver proposals originating from the region and act as proposal Manager when required
  • Arrange and attend Bid/No Bid discussions and Proposal Risk Reviews
  • Prepare, lead and participate in client interviews and presentations
  • Coordinate with and support the US Life Sciences teams and Group Sector teams in the development of new business
  • Input to the region's business development strategy in support of both local and international offices
  • Liaison with allocated global key accounts located in the regional area (in alignment with the appropriate global key account manager)
  • Work with the relevant BU team to keep the CRM reporting for leads, prospects and proposals up to date
  • Collaborate with the EVP Business Development for USA, the Sector Heads & Operations teams to develop distinctive value propositions that enhance our clients' competitive position
  • Support the Sector teams and Office Operations with key activities, e.g. client, competitor and market research
  • Work with the Sector teams and Office Operations to develop innovative solutions
  • Leverage corporate networks to identify existing capabilities that respond to client requirements and objectives as well as create a distinct competitive advantage
  • Work with the Marketing team to develop regionally focused strategic sales & marketing deliverables
  • Review, develop and maintain sales and marketing materials including project descriptions, experience lists, capability statements, etc.
  • Oversee the content located in the BD portal to ensure the preparation of proposals is consistent, efficient, compelling & competitive
  • Ensure all Proposal Managers and personnel engaged in BD activities are trained and competent in the use of PM Group's process, systems, tools and best practices
  • Representing PM Group at networking events and conferences
  • Organize promotional marketing events
  • Participate in Sector sales prospect conference calls
  • Other special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; technical Engineering or Architectural degree is preferred
  • Particular knowledge of the Life Science industry
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Self-driven, result-oriented positive outlook with a clear focus on business
  • Dynamic professional with a desire to drive a growing business
  • Comfortable representing PM Group and dealing with multi-national clients
  • Good commercial and contractual skills
  • Ability to work flexibility and travel locally as necessary for business and client needs
  • Good digital technology skills are preferred
  • Strong internal and external relationship building skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Experience working in local and international business with the added complexity of new markets, extended communications and cultural factors
  • Marketing ability to organize business to business (B2B) events, etc.
