Position Summary:
FRDA is seeking a Technical Writer to create clear, accurate, and maintainable documentation for cyber security and incident response systems, workflows, and processes. This role ensures that complex technical implementations are well-documented to support operations, compliance, and knowledge sharing.
This role is onsite in Nashville, Tennessee.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain documentation for security workflows, systems, and processes.
  • Create runbooks, playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational teams.
  • Document system architectures, integrations, and data flows in a clear and structured manner.
  • Translate technical concepts into accessible content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Produce diagrams and visual documentation to support written materials.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to gather and validate information.
  • Maintain documentation repositories and ensure version control and consistency.
  • Support audit and compliance efforts by ensuring documentation completeness and accuracy.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in technical writing within engineering, IT, or security environments.
  • Strong ability to understand and explain technical systems and workflows.
  • Experience with documentation tools such as Markdown, Confluence, Notion, or Git-based systems.
  • Ability to create diagrams using tools such as Lucidchart or Draw.io.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in cybersecurity, IT operations, or software engineering.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
