Operations Associate Job Overview

Operations Associates (Ops Associate) play a pivotal role in the execution of daily, weekly and monthly warehouse tasks required to fulfill KMM customer requirements. These tasks encompass, but are not limited to receipt, put away, pick, pack, ship, housekeeping and inventory cycle counts. A big part of this job is learning to safely operate heavy equipment including Cable Cutting Machine used for spooling telecom cable.

Operations Associate Responsibilities

The Operations Associate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the fulfillment of telecom cable and other material orders for current and any new business cases requiring logistics services within the specified shipping schedules as well as the ability to perform the duties provided below.

  • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment where prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting upwards of 75 lbs. above shoulder height is required.
  • Learn to safely operate heavy equipment including Cable Cutting Machine used for spooling telecom cable.
  • Sit down and stand-up forklift operations experience and capable of completing an In-House certification program.
  • Upon completion of training, safely load and unload telecom steel reels via forklift (or pallets) for both arriving inventory and return empty reels to supplier.
  • Perform quality inspection, taking corrective actions as necessary, prior to releasing completed orders for delivery to customer.
  • Accurately perform basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication to ensure order quantities are correct.
  • Utilize Warehouse Management System (WMS) and perform data entry functions within multiple systems using PC and barcode scanners.
  • Shipping, receiving and cycle count (inventory) while working in a high-production, fast-paced environment.
  • Maintaining inventory levels by conducting physical counts, investigating inventory discrepancies, and reconciling with data storage systems as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of warehouse safety awareness at all times.
  • Able to work extended shifts, evenings, and occasional weekends.

Operations Associate Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse experience with basic understanding of inventory, shipping and receiving working in a high-production, fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to learn to operate a cable cutting machine.
  • Ability to learn to operate a barcode scanner (handheld).
  • Sit down and stand-up forklift operating experience. Certification preferred but not required; must be capable of completing an in-house certification program.
  • Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
