Job description

Department: Digital Marketing
Reports To: Director of Digital Growth and Web Conversion

Direct reports: 3

Location: Hybrid, Denver, CO or home-based, Boston, MA

Position Summary:

Why Join Bentley Digital Marketing Now?

There has never been a more exciting time to join the Marketing team at Bentley Systems. As a globally established, industry-leading software company, we are undergoing a rapid, high-impact digital transformation. We are heavily investing in modern marketing technology, forward thinking strategies, and data-backed experimentation. Here, you experience a rare professional synergy: the scale of a company whose established products actively shape the world's infrastructure, paired with the agility and "builder" mentality of a startup. We are actively building the future of digital marketing at Bentley, and we are looking for innovators to help us shape it.

About the Role

We are seeking a data-driven and strategically minded Senior Manager of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) to lead our optimization team and oversee digital growth strategies. Reporting to the Director of Digital Growth and Web Conversion, you will manage a team to execute a high-impact testing roadmap across our corporate B2B website and e-commerce storefront.

This role goes beyond traditional on-site A/B testing. You will own the Optimizely experimentation environment and drive full-funnel revenue growth by designing comprehensive lifecycle strategies, such as trial nurture programs and abandoned cart recovery initiatives. We are also looking for a leader who is inherently AI-curious - someone who brings a depth of traditional CRO expertise but is constantly exploring new ways to leverage AI to improve testing workflows, uncover predictive insights, and drive better business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Strategy
    • Manage and Mentor: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of CRO and digital optimization specialists and managers.
    • Cultivate an Experimentation & AI Culture: Act as the CRO evangelist within the broader Digital Marketing organization, championing a culture of continuous testing, learning, and adopting new, AI-driven ways of working.
  • Web Optimization & Testing
    • Lead the CRO Roadmap: Own the Optimizely platform. Develop and scale the A/B, split, and multivariate testing roadmap across the corporate website and e-commerce storefront.
    • Optimize the Buyer Journey: Map and analyze key customer journey stages, removing friction from digital funnels from initial landing to final transaction or lead capture.
    • AI-Driven Optimization Strategy: Identify and implement strategic use cases for AI within the CRO process-such as leveraging predictive AI for audience segmentation, or generative AI for rapid test ideation and copywriting at scale.
  • Lifecycle & Revenue Growth
    • Drive Full-Funnel Conversion: Design and execute multi-touch nurture sequences to convert evaluators into paying customers.
    • Recover Lost Revenue: Implement and optimize abandoned cart recovery programs and other lifecycle campaigns to accelerate time-to-purchase.
    • Personalization: Implement targeted personalization strategies to serve relevant messaging, content, offers, and digital experiences to priority user segments.
  • Analysis & Insights
    • Data-Driven Discovery: Leverage web analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, and user feedback to identify drop-offs and high-value optimization opportunities.
    • Performance Reporting: Monitor and report on the commercial and digital performance of all CRO and lifecycle initiatives. Translate complex test results into actionable business insights for executive leadership using data visualization dashboards.
    • Marketing Data Integration: Work closely with Marketing Operations to ensure seamless data flow and accurate tracking across web platforms, CRM (Salesforce), and marketing automation systems (Marketo).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Marketing Alignment: Work across marketing teams-including Product and Industry Marketing, Campaigns, and Paid Media-to generate high-impact testing concepts that inform the optimization roadmap, and partner with these teams on implementation.
    • Partner with UX & Design: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create test variations that align with brand guidelines while pushing the boundaries for performance.
    • Work with Engineering: Partner with web development teams to ensure tests are launched smoothly, flawlessly, and without negatively impacting site performance.
  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in digital marketing, with at least 3+ years directly managing Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) and direct people management experience.
  • B2B E-commerce: Proven experience scaling and growing e-commerce engines and storefronts specifically within a B2B environment. Hands-on experience or familiarity with Adobe Commerce is highly preferred.
  • AI Curiosity & Innovation: Demonstrated curiosity for integrating AI tools into marketing processes to improve speed-to-market, variation generation, or data analysis.
  • Testing Tools: Hands-on expertise with Optimizely is required.
  • Lifecycle Marketing: Proven track record of building and optimizing revenue-generating lifecycle programs.
  • Analytics & Visualization: Proficiency in web analytics (Google Analytics 4) and user behavior tools. Strong experience using data visualization tools (ie. Power BI and Data Studio) and dashboards to analyze funnel metrics and report on test performance.
  • Business Operations: Familiarity with the integration of marketing automation (Marketo) and CRM (Salesforce) data to track full-funnel conversion efficiency.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) as they relate to deploying and troubleshooting tests.
