Position Summary
AVASO Federal Solutions is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Federal Sales & Growth to lead the company’s federal growth strategy and accelerate the acquisition of new business across the U.S. Government market.
This is a senior executive growth role with a clear mandate: build, diversify, and expand AVASO Federal Solutions’ federal customer portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities, establishing relationships with federal customers and strategic partners, building a qualified pipeline, and converting opportunities into sustainable revenue.
A primary objective of this position is to reduce reliance on any single customer or contract by establishing multiple, durable sources of federal revenue across targeted agencies, programs, contract vehicles, and strategic partnerships.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive federal contracting experience, an established network within the federal marketplace, and a demonstrated history of personally developing and winning meaningful new business.
Key
ResponsibilitiesFederal Growth Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive federal sales and growth strategy aligned with the company's long-term objectives.
- Identify federal agencies, programs, contract vehicles, and market segments where AVASO Federal Solutions has a strong competitive position.
- Establish measurable short-, mid-, and long-term revenue growth objectives.
- Build a diversified federal customer portfolio that reduces dependence on any single customer, program, or contract.
- Advise executive leadership on federal market trends, competitive positioning, investment priorities, and emerging opportunities.
- Translate corporate capabilities into actionable go-to-market strategies for targeted federal customers.
New Business Development
- Personally drive the identification, qualification, development, and pursuit of net-new federal business opportunities.
- Establish and maintain a robust, qualified federal sales pipeline with clearly defined capture strategies and anticipated revenue.
- Proactively identify opportunities before formal solicitations are released.
- Develop relationships with federal decision-makers, contracting officials, program leadership, industry partners, prime contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Leverage existing professional relationships and develop new relationships that create meaningful access to federal business opportunities.
- Lead customer engagement strategies designed to position AVASO Federal Solutions early in the acquisition lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities for prime contracting, subcontracting, teaming arrangements, joint pursuits, and strategic partnerships.
- Expand the company's presence into new federal agencies and customer accounts.
Capture & Opportunity Management
- Lead strategic capture efforts for high-value federal opportunities from identification through award.
- Establish bid/no-bid recommendations based on strategic fit, competitive position, probability of win, resource requirements, and expected return.
- Develop account plans, capture strategies, competitive assessments, win themes, teaming strategies, and pricing considerations in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain visibility into federal procurement forecasts, recompetes, IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, task orders, RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Work closely with proposal, operations, finance, technical, and executive leadership to develop competitive and executable solutions.
- Ensure opportunities are appropriately qualified before significant organizational resources are committed to pursuit.
Revenue & Pipeline Accountability
- Own federal new-business pipeline development and associated growth targets.
- Establish measurable KPIs for pipeline value, qualified opportunities, capture progression, win rates, bookings, and new revenue.
- Maintain accurate forecasts and regularly communicate pipeline health, opportunity status, risks, and expected awards to executive leadership.
- Create disciplined pipeline management processes that distinguish actionable opportunities from speculative leads.
- Take direct accountability for converting qualified opportunities into awarded business and revenue.
Strategic Partnerships
- Develop relationships with large and mid-sized federal contractors to create subcontracting and teaming opportunities.
- Identify strategic partners whose capabilities, contract vehicles, customer relationships, or socioeconomic positioning strengthen AVASO Federal Solutions' competitive position.
- Negotiate and develop teaming strategies that support long-term growth rather than isolated transactional opportunities.
- Represent AVASO Federal Solutions at relevant federal industry events, conferences, customer meetings, and business-development engagements.
Executive Leadership
- Serve as a member of the company's senior leadership team and provide executive-level guidance regarding growth strategy and federal market positioning.
- Collaborate closely with the President/CEO and other executive leaders to establish growth priorities and determine appropriate investments in business development and capture.
- Build scalable sales and business-development processes as the federal portfolio expands.
- Evaluate future staffing requirements and build a high-performing growth organization as justified by pipeline and revenue.
- Maintain a strong understanding of operational capacity to ensure new business can be successfully transitioned from capture to execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Government, Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Significant progressive experience in federal government contracting, business development, capture, or federal sales, including experience at a senior leadership level.
- Demonstrated history of identifying, developing, and winning net-new federal business.
- Proven ability to build and manage a substantial federal opportunity pipeline.
- Established relationships and professional network within the federal government contracting ecosystem.
- Strong knowledge of the federal acquisition lifecycle and government procurement environment.
- Experience pursuing federal contract vehicles including IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, task orders, and standalone procurements.
- Demonstrated experience developing capture strategies and positioning organizations ahead of formal solicitations.
- Experience establishing teaming relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and strategic partners.
- Strong executive communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining personally engaged in business development and capture activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling IT services, technology solutions, managed services, professional services, field services, or related solutions to federal customers.
- Existing relationships across DoD and/or civilian federal agencies.
- Experience successfully expanding a federal contractor from one or a small number of major customers into a diversified federal portfolio.
- Experience supporting organizations through significant periods of federal revenue growth.
- Familiarity with SAM.gov, GovWin, agency procurement forecasts, and other federal opportunity intelligence platforms.
- Experience working within organizations operating under federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
- Active or previously held U.S. Government security clearance is a plus.
