Job description

Our Finance team is expanding and looking to add a Cost Accountant. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.

The Cost Accountant position is responsible for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. Other responsibilities include:

  • Administer cost accounting activities to ensure accurate costing and valuation of production, cost of sales and inventory;
  • Assist with the monthly closing process by preparing and posting month-end journal entries, as well as preparation of monthly financial reports on a timely basis;
  • Monthly tracking of standard cost compared to actual cost. Provide monthly product margin and profit analysis (sales, standard cost, freight, manufacturing overhead and variances, etc.), and prepare recommendations for action;
  • Responsible for physical inventory and reconciliation, Identification of excess and obsolete inventory ;
  • Establish standards for material, labour and overhead annually and for new products, as needed;
  • Review the new product cost model and prepare recommendations for action;
  • To participate in continuous improvement activities that enhance the cost competition at the plant ;
  • Assist with preparation and evaluation of weekly flash, monthly forecast, and annual budget;
  • Other duties as assigned

To be a qualified candidate you must meet the following:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Accounting degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years experience working in an Accountant position with a manufacturing facility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Able to work different hours and shifts as needed
