Job description

We are looking for a Contract Cost Accountant to support manufacturing finance operations in Cromwell, Connecticut. This role focuses on cost analysis, inventory oversight, and compliance with government accounting expectations in a production environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with standard costing, indirect rate preparation, and variance analysis to help improve financial accuracy, familiarly with Government Accounting is a plus.


Responsibilities:

โ€ข Manage cost accounting activities for manufacturing operations, including the review and maintenance of standard costs.

โ€ข Prepare annual indirect rate calculations and support the allocation of direct and indirect expenses across programs or business areas.

โ€ข Evaluate production and manufacturing variances, identify key cost drivers, and present findings to finance and operations stakeholders.

โ€ข Oversee inventory accounting processes to help ensure accurate valuation, reconciliations, and ongoing monitoring of stock movement.

โ€ข Apply government accounting principles and relevant regulatory guidance, including FAR 31, to cost treatment and reporting practices.

โ€ข Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis related to manufacturing performance.

โ€ข Support compliance with organizational policies and applicable accounting standards through timely analysis and documentation.

โ€ข Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

โ€ข Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing methodologies.

โ€ข Experience with cost allocation, indirect cost structures, and annual rate development.

โ€ข Familiarity with government accounting requirements and FAR 31 compliance considerations.
