Job Summary:

The Continuous Improvement Lead is responsible for developing, leading and driving continuous improvement initiatives and programs across the project. The Lead will work closely with Project Quality Manager & Project management team to analyze and identify areas of improvement, develop strategies, and implement changes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. They will promote building a strong customer focus on projects, empower and assist teams to solve problems and make fact-based decisions to deliver right the first time. This role will require facilitated resolution of issues, improvements and opportunities across all functions and integrated project teams. The successful candidate will be the enterprise 'catalyst for change' and a key technical resource to deliver a highly customized continuous improvement programs, training and mentoring. Advises management of project quality problems and progress. Develops and implements the Continuous Improvement Program for Projects. Carries out Route Cause Investigations (RCA's) in specific areas as required.This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. This will be a part time telework position, preferably based in London or Reston.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Directs the technical activities involved in the implementation of continuous improvement across the project functions and establishes the quality and continuous improvement program/plan.
  • Implement continuous improvement training policies required.
  • Recommends actions to project personnel to correct observed quality deficiencies.
  • Reviews project schedules for quality-related activities to ensure timely and effective implementation of the project quality and continuous improvement plan requirements.
  • Identifies quality problems, initiates documented action and verifies implementation of solutions.
  • Manages and drives the use of Quality improvement core programs across the projects.
  • Initiates Continuous Improvement quality staffing requirements and budgets for approval.
  • Prepares reports on the effectiveness of the quality and continuous improvement program/plan implementation.  
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors in engineering / management from an accredited university. Minimum 15 years' professional experience, preferably including quality manager.  
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Broad knowledge of the quality principles and their application to engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, or decommissioning.
  • Knowledge of the application of corrective actions to reconcile nonconforming conditions.
  • Excellent leadership skills including high levels of oral and written communication coupled with a high level of customer and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in providing direction and on the job training to assigned personnel.
  • Expert knowledge of quality & CI tools and practices and broad knowledge of Bechtel's administrative practices, including supervisory experience.
  • Completed six sigma Black Belt training and certification to lead six sigma projects, train and coach other personnel and complete problem-solving projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical and process management software and flow-charting software or process mapping software.
