OverviewDuring the summer conference season, the Office of Conference Services (OCS) coordinates with outside organizations to host events and programs on campus. These rentals include conferences, athletic programs, film productions, social events, performances, commencements and both day and residential camps.
OCS is responsible for planning logistics, organizing set-ups, and coordinating with internal departments while providing exceptional customer service. The office ensures timely and effective communication between clients and campus partners. The goal is to deliver a positive experience for all guests while protecting the interests of the University.
Duties and Responsibilities - Understand, administer, and uphold OCS policies and procedures
- Serve as a liaison between OCS and internal and external clients
- Assist with preparation and light housekeeping duties in residence halls, including making beds and conducting room inspections to prepare for guest arrivals
- Assist with facilities set-ups for conferences, programs, and other events
- Prepare, organize, and maintain OCS inventory, including the linen exchange program
- Greet summer groups and assist with check-in and check-out, troubleshoot issues, and provide customer service support
- Perform room inspections and assist with closing residence halls after group departures
- Run errands and deliver event-related items on campus
- Conduct daily classroom and event space inspections
- Update the daily OCS log
- Provide on-call service for overnight guests
- Serve as a liaison for OCS during summer programs and group activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned (some light to medium lifting may be required)
Qualifications - Must be available for employment throughout the summer conference season: June 1, 2026 - August 15, 2026
- Must attend mandatory pre-season training sessions (date TBD)
- Previous summer conference experience preferred but not required; strong customer service or hospitality experience is highly desirable
- Ability to live on campus for the duration of the summer conference program is preferred but not mandatory
- Must participate in on-call phone duty rotations
- Excellent writing and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, guests, and members of the Iona community
- Proactive, responsible, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to identify and resolve issues
- Demonstrated commitment to taking ownership of responsibilities and completing tasks in a timely manner with limited supervision
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours
- Staff are entitled to a 30-minute unpaid break for shifts of six consecutive hours
