JOB SUMMARY:

The Risk Coordinator responsible for identifying and reporting actual or potential risk issues and assisting in developing and implementing risk reduction practices under the auspices of the Risk Management Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist the Director of Risk Management in planning and coordinating the implementation of risk initiatives. Demonstrates the ability to provide guidance to staff in risk reduction/prevention strategies. Handles Healthcare Peer Review Report data entry and assists with review, investigation and follow up. Compiles monthly and quarterly Midas data for reports. Handles claims activity and departmental organizational activities for identified risk exposures working with attorneys, staff and external agencies.   Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Reviews, processes, monitors, and trends monthly incident reports.

Completes monthly incident reports as required by the Patient Safety Council Committee and participates in

QA or Risk meetings as assigned.

Conducts Medical Record reviews relating to Risk audits and prepares summary reports while protecting the

confidentiality of all risk related data and information.

Works with departmental staff and managers in providing risk reduction education and support.

Develops expertise in risk reduction/prevention statistical tools and methodologies and monitors their

effectiveness. Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years acute care clinical experience required. 
  • Must be able to interpret clinical data/reports.
  • Requires review and analysis of patient care records.
  • One or more years experience in risk or quality preferred. 
  • Healthcare/Legal background preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools preferred.  
  • Must be computer literate.
