SUMMARY Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, serves as the department lead for community risk reduction planning, implementation, evaluation, and public education initiatives. Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates community risk reduction (CRR) programs and initiatives designed to reduce fire, injury, medical, and life safety risks within the community. Conducts community risk assessments, analyzes data and trends, develops targeted risk reduction strategies, and delivers public education and outreach programs that address identified community needs.
Establishes and maintains partnerships with community stakeholders to promote safety, preparedness, resilience, and risk reduction throughout the City. Utilizes data-driven decision-making, community engagement, and public education strategies to support department goals and improve community safety outcomes. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate's Degree or at least three (3) years of experience in Community Risk Reduction, Public Education, Emergency Management, Fire Prevention, Public Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Public Health, Community Outreach, or a related field.
One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License.
Preferred certifications: NFPA Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I or II Arizona Fire Instructor I FEMA or National Fire Academy Community Risk Reduction coursework Child Passenger Safety Technician certification CPR/AED Instructor certification SELECTION PROCESS Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview.
