Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. We use our expertise to help our customers securely and effectively transform mission delivery.

Job Summary:

Bechtel National, Inc., seeks a qualified and highly skilled professional to serve as a senior Digital Communications lead to join its Communications team to guide and develop original graphic designs, videos, animations, and a broad array of visual communications products that build positive branding for the Sentinel Project in Ogden, Utah.

The successful candidate will maintain and build Sentinel’s digital communications capability to serve both internal and external audiences by generating, editing, and printing daily content (original graphic illustrations, presentations, fact sheets, displays, animations, and video, etc.) that promotes Sentinel’s mission, vision, and values; and highlights accomplishments, progress, and recognizes employees.

While not required, candidates may be requested to provide a sample portfolio of previous products and demonstration of skill.  #LI-AM3 

Major Responsibilities:
  • Essential Job Duties:

    Graphic Illustrations, Video Production, Photography, Printing, Intranet:

    • Graphic Design to create posters, digital signage, brochures, booklets and graphic illustrations based on client input.
    • Video content creation using a variety of cameras, sound and lighting equipment, and editing to create short videos for internal and external publication. This extends to simple script writing and storyboarding to support video projects.
    • Photography using a variety of cameras in office and industrial settings, providing photographic support for both internal and external products.
    • Printing, mounting, laminating graphics related products using onsite large-format printers; and/or coordinating with offsite printing vendors to support high-volume printing needs.
    • With support from the Information Systems & Technology department, helps to administer the project’s intranet homepage and associated internal communications web-based platforms.
    • Supports the project’s digital photo and video archiving activities.

    Visual Identity Standards:

    • Leads and maintains project visual identity standards by developing original graphic designs for online use, presentations, printed displays, brochures, fact sheets, and milestone mementos.

     

    Additional Activities:

    • Supports special activities and projects, as assigned, such as but not limited to public meetings, tours, all-hands meetings, workforce recognition events, community relations and charitable giving activities.

    Internal Communications:

    • Provides support to the Communications manager and internal communications lead in developing graphics, presentations, and video products to support all-workforce communications and events.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Basic Qualifications:

    • Proficient use and skill with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft SharePoint.
    • Proficient writing and verbal skills a must.
    • Must be self-motivated.
    • Must be customer oriented with willingness to participate and contribute to collaborative development process.
    • Knowledge of principles of design, photography, video, and printing.
    • Ability to learn and work with different media types, planning tools, and software.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment with ever changing priorities.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with Communications team members and work peers.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Ability to walk on construction and/or industrial sites (including some areas of uneven terrain) for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to wear personal protective equipment in construction and/or industrial zone, to include but not limited to, hardhat, safety glasses, reflective vest, and steel-toed shoes.
    • Available during non-work hours for infrequent on-call situations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Thorough understanding of principles of design, photography, video, and full-color printing.
    • Strong knowledge of Apple and Microsoft operating systems, and Adobe platforms.
    • Strong knowledge of digital SLR cameras, and video HD cameras, lighting equipment, audio/visual presentation equipment.
    • Basic knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, SproutSocial, YouTube.
    • Knowledge of nuclear, security, environmental, energy services industry, and/or experience working in a matrixed organization or government project environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Graphics Design, Digital Media, Web Design, Visual Arts, Communications, Marketing, or related field or Associates Degree with 8 years of experience in graphics design, digital media communications, visual arts production, marketing, communications or related field, or High School Diploma or GED plus 8 years of relevant experience is required.
