Role Summary
The Director of Commercial Operations for Contracting leads the strategy, processes, and teams that drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and commercial excellence. This role drives sales operations, forecasting, analytics, contracting, and cross-functional alignment to ensure the commercial organization operates with precision and discipline. A Director of Commercial Operations is a critical driver of revenue growth, ensuring that the commercial organization operates efficiently, strategically, and cohesively. They bridge strategy and execution, enabling the company to scale effectively and maintain a competitive edge.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Strategy & Planning:
• Develop and execute commercial strategies aligned with revenue and margin goals, in coordination with Proposal Leader.
• Lead annual and quarterly planning, including order entry forecasting and pipeline modeling.
• Identify and implement opportunities to optimize commercial performance and reduce operational friction.
2. Contracting & Commercial Governance:
• Oversee the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including planning, drafting, negotiation, redlining, approval workflows, and execution.
• Partner with Legal, Finance, and Sales to ensure contracts meet commercial, compliance, and risk standards.
• Develop, improve and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and clause libraries to ensure consistency and speed.
• Implement and manage contract management systems (CLM) to improve visibility, cycle time and improve overall efficiency of deal flow.
• Monitor contract performance, obligations, renewals, and pricing adherence.
• Ensure commercial terms align with company strategy, margin requirements, and regulatory obligations.
3. Sales Operations Leadership:
• Guides sales processes, CRM governance, pipeline hygiene, and sales enablement tools to to optimize commercial results.
• Ensures accurate reporting, forecasting, and KPI tracking across commercial contracting teams.
4. Performance Analytics & Insights:
• Establish dashboards and analytics that provide actionable insights into revenue, pricing, and other contracted order entry impacting areas.
• Identify risks and opportunities in the commercial funnel and recommend corrective actions.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Align Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Product, and Customer Success around shared commercial objectives.
• Serve as the operational bridge between customer-facing teams and internal stakeholders.
• Drive onboarding for new Commercial stakeholders and participants.
6. Team Leadership:
• Lead and develop cross functional teams across commercial operations, contracting, and sales support.
• Build a strong commercial contracting team and establish commercial organization as a cross functional developmental path within Landis+Gyr.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
7. Financial & Operational Oversight:
• Manage commercial budgets, pricing governance, and margin optimization.
• Support financial planning processes with accurate revenue projections and contract insights.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years in commercial operations, sales operations, contracting, or related fields.
• Strong experience with contract negotiation, commercial terms, and risk management.
• Expertise in CRM and CLM systems (Ideally MS Dynamics, Conga).
• Analytical mindset with strong business acumen and executive-level communication skills.
• Proven leadership experience in a high-growth or complex commercial environment.
• Comfort and expertise in driving cross-functional teams is a must.
• Navigating and problem solving in complex and sometimes ambiguous scenarios is necessary.
• Experience in serving Electric, Water and Gas Utility Industry is highly desirable.
• Experience in negotiating complex technology solutions, including hardware, software and services is highly desired.

Pay is in the range of $142,303 - $189,159 per year. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
