The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in leading daily production operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of the production schedule. This role oversees production teams, drives operational excellence, and ensures compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and sanitation standards. You will lead and develop production employees, manage staffing and resources, coordinate cross-functional support, and foster a positive, inclusive work environment where team members can thrive. This role is responsible for ensuring production goals are achieved while maintaining Peet's commitment to quality, safety, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities:
Production Management

  • Oversees daily operations on the production floor, ensuring schedule adherence and alignment with safety, quality, and productivity targets.
  • Manages staffing schedules and inventory needs, maintaining accurate production and inventory records.
  • Coordinate staffing needs to meet daily schedules, including arranging temporary workers and managing schedule changes.
  • Partners with the Production Planner regarding capacity planning and production requirement updates.
  • Implements and supports technology and process improvements introduced by the Engineering and Coffee departments.
  • Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair with the Engineering and Maintenance Department, identifying modifications to enhance efficiency.
  • Upholds rigorous cleanliness and sanitation standards to ensure readiness for quality and food safety certification audits
  • Promotes a safe work environment by proactively addressing and communicating safety concerns
  • Conducts hands-on quality control and monitors key production checkpoints to adjust workflow and address bottlenecks.
  • Applies 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
  • Completes shift-level reporting on production results.
  • Ensure accurate ERP transactions by the production team, investigate and explain variances, and drive process improvements to reduce errors.

Employee Management

  • Leads team compliance with workplace safety, food safety, and quality certification programs.
  • Oversees staffing levels and scheduling to meet production needs, including temporary workforce coordination.
  • Oversees the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, training, development, evaluations, disciplinary action, and compensation decisions.
  • Develops and delivers training programs for Production Technicians and Team Members to support onboarding and skill advancement.
  • Manages and verifies timekeeping records for direct reports in Workday, ensuring accurate labor tracking, attendance, and compliance with scheduling policies.
  • Fosters a fair, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment aligned with company policies and values.

  • Actively participates in department and cross-functional meetings.
  • Drives employee engagement through recognition programs and positive workplace culture initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced, multi-department production environments while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Strong background in labor analysis, cost control, and productivity optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and enforcing food safety procedures (e.g., GMPs, SSOPs, Employee Adverse Health policies) and workplace safety standards.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • PCQI or HACCP certification.
  • Familiarity with AIB Consolidated Standards and food safety audits.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and supply chain software platforms.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Exposures:

  • Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods, including shifts exceeding 9 continuous hours.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform tasks that involve frequent leaning, bending, and reaching.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver and push bins weighing up to 750 pounds on casters.
  • Work environment includes exposure to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, muscular strain, and high noise levels.

The target annual base salary range for this position is $70,000-85,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education, certifications or licenses, other legitimate non-discriminatory business factors, and the geographic location of the role. In addition to base pay, individuals in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
