Rook Coffee

Long Branch, NJ

$19/hr

Full-time

Medical, Retirement, PTO

Posted 26 days ago

Job description

When childhood friends Holly and Shawn stepped away from their corporate careers and started Rook Coffee in 2010, they wanted to make people feel special. Since the beginning, in a 300-square-foot shack, Rook has focused on offering specialty coffees that inspire genuine, human connections.

Rook Coffee is currently seeking energetic and hard-working individuals to continue to make those connections. If you're nice, likable, approachable, a team player, proactive, patient, sociable, positive, reliable, and honest, we'd love to hear from you.

Starting at $19/hr!

No prior coffee experience is necessary! We will train you!

Our roastery is where we roast our amazing coffee and cold brew products and our team members here play a critical role in that process! Together with our roasters and brewers, our team members help to produce coffee products while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate LOVES being hands-on and is interested in learning about the coffee roasting process.
You Will
  • Master the art and science of production coffee roasting, learning to operate our commercial roaster safely and with increasing confidence and skill
  • Prepare, weigh, and package roasted coffee to spec, ensuring every bag that leaves our facility meets Rook's quality standards
  • Keep the roastery running smoothly through routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and organization
  • Own the full green coffee workflow -- receiving shipments, running inventory counts, weighing and proportioning lots, and staging for roasting or delivery
  • Pitch in on general production housekeeping to keep the facility safe, clean, and dialed in
  • Support merchandise operations including organizing, counting, and distributing product across locations
You Have
  • No prior coffee roasting experience required -- we'll teach you everything you need to know, and a passion for coffee or curiosity about the craft is always a bonus
  • A genuine commitment to growing with Rook -- we're looking for someone ready to invest at least 6 months with the team
  • Weekend availability (our roastery doesn't take days off, and neither do we)
  • A positive, can-do attitude -- you'll be working hard, and good energy goes a long way
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment is a plus -- but a strong work ethic matters more
  • A true team-player mentality -- this role touches almost every part of our operation, and collaboration is key
  • Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs regularly and stay on your feet for extended shifts
Benefits Include
  • Free coffee while working
  • Employee discount program: Discounts on coffee, cold brew, merchandise, and food
  • Paid Time Off: Includes sick time and vacation time
  • Health benefits for eligible team members
  • 401 (K) for eligible team members
  • Advancement opportunities
$17 - $19 an hour
