  • 1-4 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, automation, or process improvement with electro-mechanical systems supporting a production environment for candidates with a relevant engineering degree; candidates substituting hands-on experience for a degree should have 5+ years of relevant experience, including Allen-Bradley controls programming and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with programming PLCs, HMIs, and drives; exposure to Allen-Bradley equipment and A-B PLC code
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs
  • Strong, data-driven problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and within teams
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities across different levels of the organization

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Programming: Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Indralogic, Python, SQL, Siemens
  • Automation: Variable frequency drives, pneumatic valves, servo motion control, PID control, vision inspection, robotics
  • Industrial communications: ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, IO-Link devices, Profibus, ASI-Bus

  • Experience installing and commissioning control systems
  • Food Manufacturing: CIP systems, batch process familiarity, SQF / GMP awareness, hygienic equipment design
  • Mechanical aptitude including Solidworks design, fabrication, and mechanical drawings.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, and using hands/fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; close, distance, and peripheral vision with depth perception.
  • Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, with hours varying week to week based on production needs - some weeks a standard 40-hour schedule, others requiring longer days (up to 10 hours), with occasional evening or weekend coverage.
  • Position is based on-site in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
  • Environment temperature: 50°F-100°F.

Why Join Cometeer

  • Take on a high-impact role where your work directly affects production, with the freedom to think creatively and explore solutions alongside a supportive team
  • Build broad technical range across a variety of systems and machines, with technical mentorship from senior engineers and opportunities for growth as you develop
  • Join a small, tight-knit team that punches above its weight - collaborative, transparent, and driven by data, AI, and continuous improvement
