Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor (Structures)

Department: OSC SRM Sheet Metal

Reports To: Project Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for assigning and coordinating work assignments with Leads; assumes responsibility for all maintenance functions on his/her shift. This position also assists Maintenance Control and the Station / Base Maintenance Manager in coordinating rescue missions. This position oversees Maintenance performed by Lead Maintenance Technicians, Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Mechanics, and Apprentices in accordance with all company policies and procedures as well as all federal aviation regulations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervises the maintenance and alterations of all company aircraft on their shift, in accordance with the code of Federal Regulations, company manuals, and approved procedures.
  • Supervises the Team Leads and Technicians and monitors daily work functions.
  • Identifies barriers to operating efficiently in the day-to-day process; resolving those barriers within their capabilities and communicating to management those issues where additional assistance is required.
  • Plans, assigns, and routinely follows up on work assignments.
  • Manages their shift in the safest and most effective manner possible.
  • Coordinates work and jobs in progress with oncoming Technicians during shift change to ensure an efficient flow of work.
  • Trains employees in the appropriate methods of operating efficiently according to manufacturer’s maintenance manuals and Kalitta Air, LLC policy and procedures.
  • Assigns reasonable but challenging work expectations and routinely follows-up on their progress.
  • Manages all teams, including performance management, coaching and development. Proactively builds coworker skill sets to increase bench strength and allow for succession planning.
  • Advises Maintenance Control, the Operations Control Center (OCC) and the Line Maintenance Manager advised of problems that could result in work delays and reports key performance indicators within their area of responsibility.
  • Understands and supports company and departmental goals and objectives, and ensures all personnel assigned to their shift also understand, support, and achieved the same at the line level.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Station Maintenance / Project Manager
  • Monitor the proper completion of aircraft records (e.g., logbook pages, work cards, non-routines, Engineering documents [EOs, EAs, etc.], and other related documents)
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all assigned work documents and records.
  • Maintain familiarization with the training requirements necessary as defined in the AMTM and ensure training is current prior to performing the functions and tasks of this position
  • Always follow (never deviate from) approved published procedures unless proper deviation is Authorized
  • Must be able to pass a 10 Year Background check, and any location specific requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain an Airport SIDA Badge and United States Custom Seal if required.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe, Powerplant or both ratings (must be provided upon hire and or request)
  • Required, five (5) years of experience performing maintenance in the following areas on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give and receive verbal and written direction to team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe, Powerplant or both ratings (may be reviewed based on Location and position)
  • Recommended but not required, five (5) years of experience supervising / performing maintenance in the following areas on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft:
  • maintenance checks
  • structural repairs
  • component maintenance on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft or successful Completion of accredited A&P mechanic training course
  • When requested by management if applicable to your location, must obtain Engine Run / Taxi

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position requires extremely strenuous physical work involving objects in excess of 100 lbs.
