THE POSITION
The Clerical Supervisor 1 role at the Cambria County Assistance Office offers a chance to lead a team that keeps essential services moving smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position oversees a clerical unit and ensures that daily tasks are completed accurately and on schedule. The role involves guiding staff, improving processes, and supporting office operations. As a Clerical Supervisor 1, you will perform the following duties:
  • Work Direction: Assign, organize, and review clerical tasks to maintain timely and accurate workflow
  • Staff Guidance: Train employees, provide feedback, and address complex issues that arise during daily operations
  • Process Coordination: Coordinate clerical activities with other staff and resolve discrepancies in data and records
  • Communication Tasks: Communicate with coworkers, other offices, and agencies to resolve issues and share information
  • Record Oversight: Monitor mail processing, data entry, and file maintenance to ensure proper handling and accuracy
  • Performance Review: Evaluate staff performance and prepare required reports for management review

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Overtime and travel as needed.
  • DHS provides excellent benefits, contractual pay increases, paid holidays and leave entitlements, opportunity for advancement and shift selection in addition to a great work environment.
  • WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Johnstown, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Cambria County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cambria County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
