Job description

Position Overview: 

The Cultivation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day functions of the cultivation production areas; managing cultivation technicians; ensuring that all processes, training requirements, schedules, policies and procedures are followed, and that the cultivation production goals are met; and approving batches of harvested cannabis for processing, packaging, labeling, and sale after receiving passing test results from the Department-approved laboratory. The Supervisor is responsible for the documentation and tracking accuracy of all inventory and products, maintaining facility compliance, and cleanliness. The Supervisor also provides leadership for plant care in all stages of life-cycle cannabis growth to include germination, vegetative, flowering and harvest.  

Major Areas of Responsibility include: 

  • Oversees all cultivation tasks and processes, ensures proper documentation of all applicable activities in accordance with the State and standards set by Columbia Care. 
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees the transition of vegetation, bloom and harvest by ensuring the proper tasks are executed and the environmental conditions support the cultivation of superior product quality. 
  • Responsible for managing gardening staff, schedules, cultivation processes, and inventory. 
  • Serves as a resource to cultivation staff providing information, training, direction, and guidance to accomplish established individual, departmental and company objectives.  
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining current SOPs, monitoring industry news, and adjusting to changes in regulations. 
  • Responsible for delegating tasks to cultivators and harvest technicians in order to maintain a compliant and clean cultivation facility. 
  • Coordinates with the management team to ensure accurate information is communicated to the cultivation staff.   
  • Maintain accurate records of all cultivation activities including employee records, inventory records, crop application records, materials receipt, returns, etc. in accordance with the State and standards set by Columbia Care. 
  • Coach, develop, and mentor cultivation teams as necessary.   
  • Ensure proper health and safety practices are followed in the cultivation production area.  

Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge & Abilities): 

  • All applicants must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in plant biology, physiology, biological sciences, or agricultural sciences preferred. 
  • Advanced knowledge of plant cultivation and cultivation facility operation methods. 
  • 2 years of experience in a position with team management responsibilities. 
  • Demonstrates excellent multi-tasking, time-management and organizational skills. 
  • Experience in a position requiring critical-thinking, problem-solving, planning and assessment. 
  • Knowledge of medical cannabis policy and law. 
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment. 
  • Proficiency in windows-based software and point of sale applications. 

Travel %: 

FLSA status: Non-exempt 

Pay range:  $25.00 per hour, plus benefits

Additional Abilities Required:

This role is performed in a traditional retail setting which requires the ability to have a high stress tolerance and be flexible and adaptable. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, use hands to perform manual tasks, use computer equipment such as POS and email, and lift or move up to 50 pounds (or more with assistance). Must be able to speak and communicate verbally with co-workers, customers, vendors, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
