Job Overview

The Aurex Flight Factory is seeking a Senior Buyer/Planner to manage scheduling and procurement for its manufacturing of aerospace and defense products. This position is responsible for master scheduling, materials procurement and coordinating production processes across multiple customers and programs.

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Buyer/Planner will:

  • Create and maintain the master production schedule within the ERP system ensuring alignment of customer requirements, capacity constraints, resource availability, and management priorities.
  • Utilize ERP queries/reports to determine purchased and manufactured item requirements and release purchase orders and shop orders as required.
  • Generate production paperwork including shop travelers and work instructions and maintain the shop visual management system.
  • Manage purchased item schedules and proactively communicate with suppliers and management to resolve issues.
  • Review, monitor, and execute updates to supplier and internal orders in ERP system including order changes and transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records for all transactions, purchase orders, and receipts in compliance with quality management procedures and company requirements.
  • Optimize the production schedule to maximize machine utilization, minimize downtime, and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Identify bottlenecks and constraints at internal processes and work with manufacturing to determine options for alternative solutions.
  • Conduct on-time delivery, quality, and vendor performance assessments; prepare and present regular status and performance reports to management and relevant departments.
  • Identify and manage the onboarding of new suppliers as required to meet customer demands.
  • Assist in inventory management including forecasting stocking levels and auditing.
  • Support manufacturing operations by procuring supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Generate regular reports and metrics related to production schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and overall operational performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather information on new opportunities, customer orders, and production requirements to determine overall lead times as well as define milestone dates.
  • Identify and recommend viable solutions to reduce purchasing related costs and ensure quality processes are applied to continuously improve procurement.
  • Evaluate and improve scheduling processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in purchasing and production control within a metal products precision machining manufacturing environment.
  • Experience utilizing ERP and QMS systems, preferably ECI/JobBOSS and SimpleTrak.
  • Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement and systems development.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to self-monitor and motivate while adhering to assignments and daily tasks.
  • Ability and proficiency in research and deductive reasoning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management or similar degree.
  • Prior experience with a precision machining aerospace manufacturer.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements, Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
  • Experience in Government and Defense contracts.
  • Association for Supply Chain Management CPIM.
