Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of logistics professionals, promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations to ensure reliable, cost-effective service.
  • Develop and execute logistics strategies to optimize routing, scheduling, and resource utilization.
  • Manage carrier relationships, contracts, and performance; lead recurring carrier reviews to drive service improvements and cost savings.
  • Optimize transportation networks and modes to improve delivery performance and reduce freight spending.
  • Oversee company fleet operations, including one semi-truck, ensuring effective utilization, preventative maintenance, and full DOT compliance (driver qualification files, hours of service, inspections, and regulatory requirements).
  • Lead key logistics initiatives, including Freight PR-to-PO implementation, TMS integration, and FedEx standardization across all plant locations.
  • Leverage data, KPIs, and analytics to identify opportunities, improve visibility, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Support inventory planning and control to balance service levels and working capital.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with customer service, procurement, and operations to ensure alignment and resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of logistics or supply chain experience, including leadership of teams (10+ employees preferred).
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, and transportation platforms such as Alpega and Freightview.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize logistics operations, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Some travel required to suppliers, distribution centers, or other company locations.
  • Primarily office-based with occasional time spent in production or warehouse environments.
