A Production Planner at RK Mechanical plays a critical role in driving project efficiency, cost control, and on-time delivery by strategically aligning labor, materials, fabrication schedules, and field installation needs. By proactively coordinating across project management, procurement, shop operations, and field teams, the Production Planner ensures workflows are optimized, bottlenecks are minimized, and resources are deployed effectively. Position Summary 

Responsible for ensuring the CAD (DETAILING)/FAB process results in products that are fabricated by the Shop personnel meet or exceed the customer’s requirements. Responsible for updating both the forecast and daily schedules to optimize batch flow through the fabrication shop. Work with Project Managers, Shop, and Field personnel, to ensure a high-quality product is produced and delivered on time. Works within established budgets and time guidelines to produce a profit.

  Role Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shop Superintendent in ensuring that the CAD/FAB process results in a product that meets or exceeds the customer’s requirements.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the company’s employees through development planning.
  • Assist the shop Superintendent with the daily Production Planning.
  • Assist in the scheduling of fabrication.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Global Shop Solutions scheduling software database.
  • Verify estimated hours for sequences are being placed in Sequence Plan by Operations.
  • Supervise and coordinate material procurement with purchasing to meet requirements of fabrication sequence plans based on construction schedules and shop requirements.
  • Interpret specifications and blueprints as needed for recommended process, improvements, and potential cost impacts.
  • Work from sequencing plans that provide a consolidated work sequence, budgeted hours, and required fabrication and delivery dates.
  • Enter production sequence into internal scheduling program and develop work orders for fabrication.
  • Manage and analyze shop productivity tracking, establish shop production rates for review and disposition by shop superintendent.
