Daily Planner information

What is a daily planner?

Daily planners are organizational tools or professionals who help individuals or businesses plan and manage their daily schedules and tasks. They ensure that appointments, meetings, deadlines, and important activities are recorded and prioritized to improve productivity and time management. Daily planners can be physical notebooks, digital applications, or people whose job is to coordinate daily activities and keep everything on track.

How does a daily planner typically coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and task completion?

A Daily Planner often collaborates closely with various departments and team members to align daily schedules, meetings, and deadlines. They act as a central point of contact for updates or changes, ensuring that everyone is informed and tasks are prioritized effectively. This role requires clear communication and proactive follow-up to prevent scheduling conflicts and to keep projects on track. Regular check-ins and coordination with managers, assistants, and project teams are common to maintain an efficient workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a daily planner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Daily Planner, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities, typically supported by experience in administrative or project coordination roles. Familiarity with scheduling software, digital calendars, and productivity tools like Microsoft Outlook or Google Calendar is essential. Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills enable proactive handling of shifting priorities and stakeholder needs. These skills ensure efficient scheduling, minimize conflicts, and support smooth daily operations for individuals or teams.

What is the difference between Daily Planner vs Administrative Assistant?

Job description

Come be part of a team and an organization where what you do matters!

The Town of Johnstown, Colorado is actively recruiting a Planner I to be part of our dynamic and passionate team. Our friendly neighborhoods, excellent public services, and quality shopping centers are just a few reasons why many people choose to live and work in Johnstown.  Johnstown, Colorado, is a town of approximately 23,000 people located 30 minutes north of the Denver Metro area, centrally located along the Northern Front Range of Colorado, along Interstate 25, and CO Hwy 34. Johnstown is consistently one of the fastest growing municipalities in Colorado, with a steady stream of development and ongoing prospects – with varying municipal priorities ranging from maintaining a traditional small-town feel, welcoming appropriate growth, building infrastructure, and managing strong oil and gas interests.

As a department, we face interesting challenges in our future - implementation of our new Comprehensive Plan (2021); the fast-pace of development; and updating and innovating processes and systems. We are seeking a candidate that offers energy, a quest to build their career as a planner in the public sector and enjoys working with people to develop trusting business relationships to fill our Planner I position.

In this high-energy, high-production environment, a candidate must be eager to learn, grow as a professional and a planner. As a member of the Planning team, our Planner I performs a wide variety of municipal planning and project management functions, including land use planning, research, administration associated with development review, answers incoming daily planning questions from the public over the phone, and completes ancillary land use and development review and support functions.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in urban/regional planning or a closely-related field, experience in municipal planning or consultant work performing land-use planning or similar discipline, face-to-face customer service experience and GIS and/or development review experience.

Please refer to the attached job description for additional details.

The position is open until September 18, 2026, and applications will be reviewed as they are received. To be considered, please submit a cover letter expressing interest along with your resume to the official posting at: johnstownco.gov/employment.

Expected starting salary: $61,578 - $73,893, DOQ. The Town of Johnstown provides generous benefits including vacation, holiday, sick time, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plan contributions, and health savings accounts.

The Town is committed to supporting the professional growth of its employees, offering comprehensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities.

The Town of Johnstown is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other status protected by law or regulation. It is our intention that all qualified applicants be given equal opportunity and that selection be based on job-related factors. Reasonable accommodation will be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
