Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Cafeteria Manager, prepare quality food for use in the daily serving of food items in the secondary cafeteria. Plan production schedules and the coordinated use of food service equipment. Instruct and train the cafeteria helpers as assigned by the cafeteria manager.
Essential Responsibilities:- Food Preparation
a. Prepare food according to standardized recipes for daily service.
b. Follow recipes and standardize the production of such recipes for use in the assigned cafeteria.
c. Develop and maintain good cooking techniques, including the use of "batch" cooking for large quantity production.
d. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
e. Operate food service equipment such as but not limited to slicers, ovens, steamers,can openers, dishwashers, steam-jacketed kettles.
f. Assist cafeteria manager by inspecting menu items served for maximum customer satisfaction.
g. Prepare food according to students' allergies and/or intolerances.
h. Maintain accurate production records on a daily basis.
2. Inventory
a. Maintain adequate inventories of necessary ingredients and supplies to meet the daily serving demands in the assigned cafeteria.
3. Substitute for the cafeteria manager and perform the duties of the cafeteria manager when necessary.
4. Food Service Point of Sales (POS) System
a. Process deposit or purchase corrections as needed to students' accounts.
b. Prepare bank deposits and end of day reports.
c. communication with students and/or families regarding menu updates and changes
5. Assist cafeteria manager and the Director of Child Nutrition in the evaluations of cafeteria personnel regarding work performance and attitude.
6. Catering
a. Assist cafeteria manager in preparing, setting up, and cleanup of catering events.
b. Prepare food for banquets and large catering events.
7. Professional Standards- Maintain at least minimum annual training hours according to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.
8. Performs other duties as assigned under the direction of the Cafeteria Manager, Director of Child Nutrition Services, CFOO, and/or Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking experience required.
- ServSafe certification required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Other education/experience as accepted by the school board and administration
