Job Title: Cafeteria Assistant

Supervised by: Cafeteria Manager

Part-time when school is in session

FLSA Status: Non-exempt Supervises: None


The cafeteria assistant assists in the preparation, serving and clean-up of the cafeteria daily. She works with the cafeteria manager and staff to ensure that the kitchen and serving areas are clean, properly maintained and that students move efficiently through the lunch line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with all phases of food preparation, service, proper food storage, and cleaning according to established procedures and methods according to the direction of the Cafeteria Manager. This is to ensure proper food handling according to the State of Tennessee Health Department.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hardworking and courteous
  • Ability to lift boxes (up to 50 pounds, stay on oneโ€™s feet for a prolonged period of time and clean equipment)
  • Punctual, dependable and good with people
  • Is a team player
  • Able to follow all safety protocols
  • Proficient use of the English language.
  • Must be free of any contagious or communicable diseases

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Part-time: Hourly wage, working only on days the cafeteria serves students plus three days per year for training, pre-opening set-up and closing of cafeteria at yearโ€™s end.
