To become a cafeteria manager, you need to have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some cafeteria managers may have advanced qualifications, such as some postgraduate study of food science, health, or nutrition, but this is not a strict requirement for the job. You do need to have at least a year of experience in a cafeteria cooking position, such as a cafeteria chef. In many states, you are required to have a food handler card or license. Important skills you need to carry out your responsibilities include good verbal communication and attention to detail.
