Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Business Intelligence Analyst to support our Water, Wastewater, and Conveyance practice in Detroit, Michigan.
This role transforms complex business and project data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making across engineering, operations, and project delivery teams. Serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, the Business Intelligence Analyst partners with multidisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for digital transformation, improve business processes, and develop business intelligence solutions that enhance operational performance and project delivery.
The successful candidate will leverage data analytics, business intelligence tools, and digital technologies to evaluate business performance, identify trends, develop dashboards and reports, and deliver innovative solutions that align with AECOM's strategic objectives and the evolving needs of our Water business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Water, Wastewater, and Conveyance leadership, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve project delivery and operational performance through digital solutions and business intelligence.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret complex business and project data using business intelligence, data analytics, and reporting tools to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, data visualizations, and performance metrics that enable business leaders and project teams to monitor operational performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Lead business process analysis, requirements gathering, workflow documentation, and data mapping while translating business needs into functional requirements for software developers, data engineers, and technology teams.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate solution functionality, and support the successful implementation of enterprise applications, reporting platforms, and digital solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, IT, and business stakeholders to support digital transformation initiatives, improve data quality, and enhance business intelligence capabilities across the organization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by utilizing business intelligence tools, data mining techniques, AI-enabled analytics, and research to identify opportunities that improve operational efficiency and business performance.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in business analysis, digital solutions, systems analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, or digital transformation.
  • Experience supporting engineering consulting, infrastructure, utilities, municipal, environmental, or water-related organizations.
  • Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Cognos, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience using SQL, data mining, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, or AI-enabled analytics to support business decision-making.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with Salesforce, enterprise applications, or cloud-based analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with data governance, enterprise reporting, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience documenting business processes, workflow diagrams, and data flow documentation using Visio or similar tools.
