Job Summary:

The Senior Superintendent will oversee field operations on complex construction projects labor while mentoring and developing Superintendents and field staff. The Senior Superintendent role combines on-site project execution with team development, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Superintendent is a seasoned professional with a proven track record to lead teams, solve problems, and foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Mentorship, Training & Staff Development:

  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and mentorship to Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and other field personnel
  • Monitor performance and development of field staff, providing constructive feedback and identifying growth opportunities
  • Support new Superintendents in understanding company processes, project documentation, and site logistics
  • Foster a team-oriented environment that prioritizes communication, accountability, and high performance

Field Leadership & Project Oversight:

  • Coordinates and schedules the work activities of the jobsite including but not limited to determining the method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and work schedule.
  • Monitors and maintains the safety program on the jobsite in accordance with the Weddle Safety Manual and policies including but not limited to: Weekly and Monthly inspections, completing daily hazardous analysis and communicating hazards to the team members including subs at daily meeting prior to the start of work, and utilizing safety software to complete observations of the jobsite.
  • Regularly inspects work performed by Weddle collective bargaining team members and subcontractors for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
  • Collaborates with architect, engineer, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and other regulations are met.
  • Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
  • Obtains required permits and licenses; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
  • Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
  • Collaborates with union representatives to answer questions and clarify procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Approves timecards and requests for time off.
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules.
  • Document corrective actions for violations of the safety program and other company policies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
  • Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and/or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience required.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in similar construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
  • Understanding of Construction Scheduling and cost control.
  • Experience with key Weddle markets.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
