Job description

Division: Public Works

Reports to: Building Superintendent

Status: Full-Time

Salary: $33,612.75

Nature of Work:

The Craftsman performs a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, general work in carpentry, painting, and drywall under the general supervision of the Building Superintendent.

Brief Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs some repairs and maintenance of municipal buildings and property.
  • Performs such duties as painting, repairing doors, locks, furniture, cabinets, shelves, etc.
  • Performs some electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician, such as replacing cords, fuses, and light fixtures.
  • May spend a portion of time working on the grounds cutting grass, trimming shrubs, and doing grounds maintenance duties.
  • Complies with the maintenance work order system processes.
  • Pick up and load materials, supplies, and staging. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of trace tools and techniques used in general maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of the operation and use of hand/power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, perform heavy labor, and plan and organize work.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and three (3) years of vocational training or job experience.
