Job description

The Director, Benefits - Americas is responsible for the overall management of the Americas Region health & welfare and retirement benefit programs, including administration, planning, development, implementation and coordination of programs, policies and procedures.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides guidance regarding benefits matters to executives, managers and human resources in order to support global business units

  • Communicates policies, practices and guidelines effectively to all levels of the organization.

  • Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management

  • Maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs

  • Initiates the commencement of pension benefits. Maintains files of pension plan history, pension data, correspondence, reports and forms

  • Initiates record keeping and retrieval methods in compliance with government regulations. Submits information to actuary for actuarial valuation of pension plan

  • Ensures company compliance with provisions of ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc. by maintaining in depth knowledge of legal requirements

  • Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies such as the IRS, and DOL

  • Manage relationships with third-party providers, including vendor partners and consultants

  • Provides support, leadership and training to the corporate Benefits team and any new team members

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree plus additional courses or seminars related to benefits administration and/or processing

  • Progressive Experience in benefits management or related benefits administration

  • Excellent administrative, organization and interpersonal skills; ability to support all levels of the organization

  • Involves frequent contact, and a working knowledge of the benefits, policies, and procedures

  • Requires a mastery of various plan benefit offerings; and support of employee benefit plans and programs by managing benefit eligibility, enrollment, compliance, communications and vendor management

  • Must be able to look at complex situations and resolve accordingly and within the guidelines of legal parameters and benefits plan design
