Job description

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) โ€“ Outpatient Orthopedics.
  • New Grad Mentorship.
  • Student Loan Payment Support.
  • Mind-Body Training Exposure.
Company: Back on Track Physical Therapy Walnut Creek.
Job Type: Full-time (Part-time considered).

Who We Are:
Back On Track Physical Therapy is a highly respected, privately-owned outpatient orthopedic practice that has been serving the East Bay community for over 40 years. Our longevity reflects strong leadership, ethical practice, and long-term commitment to both patients and clinicians. We are known for high-quality, patient-centered care compared to the typical corporate, high-volume, assembly-line treatment.

Our clinics feature:
  • Private treatment rooms for focused, hands-on care.
  • Large, fully equipped rehab gyms for therapeutic exercise and functional training.
  • Highly trained support staff (aides + front office) so clinicians can focus on care.
  • A collaborative, respectful, team-oriented culture.
New Graduate PTA Mentorship Program:
We welcome new PTA graduates and provide structured, supportive mentorship to help you transition confidently into outpatient orthopedics.

You will receive:
  • 1:1 mentorship with experienced orthopedic Physical Therapists.
  • Hands-on training in manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, and functional rehab.
  • Weekly clinical check-ins and case discussions.
  • A clear clinical skill-development pathway.
  • Long-term growth opportunities within a multi-clinic system.
Our goal is to help you build strong clinical reasoning, patient-handling skills, efficient documentation habits, and professional confidence early in your career.

Expanded Clinical Skill Development:
In addition to traditional orthopedic training, interested clinicians may gain exposure to evidence-informed mindโ€“body approaches for chronic pain management, including:
  • Pain neuroscience education concepts.
  • Breathing and autonomic regulation strategies.
  • Gentle somatic and relaxation-based interventions.
  • Integrating movement, education, and manual therapy for complex pain presentations.
This optional mentored training is integrated into your standard orthopedic care and designed to broaden your clinical skill set rather than replace foundational PT practice.
Student Loan Payment Support (PTA-Level & Practical):
Rather than a one-time bonus, we offer meaningful support toward your actual student loan payments.

PTA Loan Assistance Program:
  • Up to $150 per month reimbursed toward actual student loan payments.
  • Proof of payment required.
  • Available after the introductory period.
  • Additional retention-based reimbursement at 12โ€“24 months.
This program is structured specifically for PTA graduates entering the workforce.

What Youโ€™ll Do:
  • Carry out PT treatment plans for orthopedic, spine, post-op, sports, and chronic pain patients.
  • Lead therapeutic exercise, gait/balance training, and functional activities.
  • Assist with manual therapy techniques (within PTA scope of practice).
  • Educate patients on home exercise programs and self-management strategies.
  • Document accurately in the EMR and communicate progress with supervising PTs.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, patient-focused clinic environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • $42โ€“$46/hr depending on experience.
  • Productivity incentive opportunities.
  • Premium Health, Dental, and Vision options.
  • Paid time off + paid holidays (eligible employees).
  • Continuing education & internal training support.
  • Structured new graduate mentorship.
  • Advancement pathways into Senior PTA, Lead PTA, or specialty roles.
  • 401 K benefit with 3% Employer match.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
  • Active California PTA license (or license-pending).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in outpatient orthopedics and hands-on care.
  • Compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented mindset.
Schedule:
  • Full-time preferred (5 days/week).
  • Part-time considered depending on clinic needs.
