Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Production Planner develops and manages the execution of the production schedule and is responsible for the overall coordination of materials and other resources according to demand and quality standards as detailed through the Production Planning & MRP system.  The position will communicate and coordinate activities with support groups such as purchasing, finance, operations, engineering, and quality.

WORKING PROCEDURES:

  • Distribute production schedules to ensure optimal production levels between various operational departments.
  • Work with Purchasing and Operations Teams on schedule impacts and resolutions.
  • Lead team meetings which updates all support groups on progress of production and supply of materials.
  • Monitor material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks before and during production.
  • Perform supply demand analysis, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.
  • Address issues regarding quality and production in coordination with engineering and operations.
  • Work with the Quality/SQE to resolve material quality issues causing production constraints.
  • Produce reports based on findings and performance of production. Such as top 10 product& material status, material issues causing overdue customer orders.
  • Manage deadlines based on project and/or manufacturing expectations.
  • Create and maintain material master and bill of material (BOM) data based on engineering, supply chain and operations feedback.
  • Work to and gather data for departmental metrics and performance goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities that may include being a part of a multi-functional group.
  • Actively pursue opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Associates degree in business management, supply chain management or similar qualification is preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Results oriented with a strong willingness to take initiative and make decisions
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong regard for product quality and safety standards.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous and diligent.
  • Able to sit, stand and move around for long hours at a time.
