About the Job
 

The Hulleman Laboratory is looking for a motivated and talented postdoc for a two-year program to focus on an exciting project that aims to develop new tools to gauge retinal health and disease using next-generation CRISPR-based tools. The ideal candidate who fills this position will have a consistent track record of publications, experience with gene editing (CRISPR or otherwise), NGS sequencing, and mouse handling/dissection. This position is supported by a recent Alcon Senior Researcher Award given to Dr. Hulleman. 
20%- Animal work - mouse colony maintenance that involves breeding, husbandry, and maintaining appropriate records and tracking animals.
40%- Conduct research using techniques which include molecular biology, gene editing, tissue isolation, dissociation, protein extraction, gel electrophoresis, western blotting, sample preparation for NGS sequencing.
20%- Perform visualization of fluorophores or other reporter proteins in vivo in mouse eyes.
10%- Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
5%- Carry out assigned duties for ordering and maintaining supply of inventories.
5%- Participate in scientific conferences.

Qualifications

Ph.D. with 5+ years of wet lab experience. Degree in the biological sciences - biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, ophthalmology, etc. 
Experience with animal handling, ocular imaging (fundus, OCT), tissue dissection.
Experience with gene editing and subsequent analysis. 
Good fine motor skills are required for ocular injections and dissection.
Superior analytical, communication and management skills.
Excellent communication and logical reasoning abilities.
Flexibility in hours is expected for the care of the animals.
Demonstrated independence.

Pay Range: Expected annual stipend will be $62,232, adjusted for the next fiscal year, according to University and Medical School guidelines.
